    I believe my UpdraftPlus Backup/Restore is backing up fine, but I seem to have stopped getting the notification emails. The last one was March 7, 2022.

    The email setting “Check this box to have a basic report sent to your site’s admin address ([email protected])” has always been checked, btw.

    (I back up to S3, if that helps.)

    Please could you send us a copy of the latest full backup log?
    This can be found in the UpdraftPlus Existing Backups tab.
    The contents will be too long to post here directly, but you can use an online service such as Dropbox or Pastebin, and post the link here.

    It appears to have sent an email report. It is possible that it got blocked or went to the spam/junk folder because of the attachment?

    I check my SPAM regularly… nothing there. Plus I’ve never seen an attachment on the notification email, just a text confirmation: “The backup apparently succeeded and is now complete”-type of thing.

    Wondering if something changed on March 8.

    Correction:

    A couple of times I DID get a log attached — when there were warnings. But the emails came through ok.

    Jan 31 and Feb 6.

    Can you check the setting if you have set it to only send email when there are errors/warnings?

    The option mentioned in the previous comment exists only in the premium version of the UpdraftPlus plugin, so please ignore it.

    I have seen that there is no email error in your backup log. If the error occurs during sending mail, the backup log surely shows it.

    There are two possibilities:

    1. It’s possible that your server has stopped sending emails. You can test it by using the Forgot password feature of WordPress.

    2. Your email server has stopped receiving mail from your WP site.?

    Hi, I am in the same situation, I have checked up my log:

    and I do get an error:

    0688.169 (2) An error occurred when sending a backup report email and/or backup file(s) via email (wp_mail_failed): Could not instantiate mail function.

    Any idea why??

    My WP Mail SMTP plug-in had failed — I needed to update my connection credentials. See if that might help you as well. That is, look through you WP Mail logs to see if the problem resides there.

    Thanks a lot, but I am using the regular WP PHPmail. I am not using any email plugin.

    Anyway, I am trying to debug WP mail to see if gets fired at all.

    I have set up a fake wp_mail() function as suggested in https://www.itthinx.com/2021/09/06/wordpress-mail-debugging/ and I’ve got the right mail content in the debug log.

    Any idea why wp_mail() may be failing?
