UpdraftPlus Backups both http AND https

    Hi,

    I’m a totally non-technical person and a wordpres newbie – your guidance is appreciated in advance ??
    I have UpdraftPlus (free version) set to make full backups of my wordpress installation (hosted on Cloudways – i.e., no cPanel) every 12 hours. After switching my site to https a couple of weeks ago (and installing Really Simple SSL plugin), the emails I receive about successfully completed backups show the backups being done to http AND https (from 20 backups done in the last 10 days only 5 are for https, the rest are for http.

    I have set the url address & site address to https in Settings > General and on the web there’s no http version of my site.

    How can Updraft back up https://www.brainyweightloss.com instead of https://www.brainyweightloss.com, when the former does not exist any longer?

    Hi Alex,

    Can you try wiping out UpdraftPlus settings in the “Advance Tools” tab?
    Then run a new backup? Does it still say http?

    @bcrodua, thank you for your reply.

    After doing a manual backup, which was done for the https, the scheduled ones are also for https only – at least for the last couple of days. So I won’t (yet) wipe out the settings in the Advance Tools yet, which frankly I don’t feel comfortable doing for fear of not breaking something, but will need to try if backups start again being done for http.

    Not to worry, Wipe settings will not erase/remove the existing backups.

    If you Wipe settings and re-configure the settings in UpdraftPlus > Settings, then re-run the backup process and check if it helps.

    @bornforphp, thanks for the reassurance, Harshad.

    The issue seems to have settled – at least for now, after doing a manual backup on the 1st of May. Since then, the 7 scheduled backups were done for https only – yay!

    If the issue re-appears I will wipe and re-configure settings as instructed here.
