Updraftplus 1.16.67 broke my site. Will 1.16.68 work for me?

    I have Updraftplus 1.16.67 installed and this morning could not access my site. Error was caused by Updraftplus and I had to disable it. Site now works fine. Is there a problem with 1.16.67 that 1.16.68, which just came out, will fix, or will I just mess up my site again if I update my version of Updraftplus?

    Hi,

    Please do provide some detail on the symptoms you experienced. My colleague has assumed that you are referring to problems restoring a backup, but this isn’t explicit in your request, so you might be talking about something else.

    Here are additional details. My site was functioning normally as far as I know. When I went to sign in I received the followed message – “There has been a critical error on this website,” and I was unable to log in. My hosting provider, DreamHost, looked at my error log and said the fault lay with Updraftplus. After I disabled Updraftplus via FTP my site worked normally.

    I upgraded to 1.16.68 and activated it this morning without any problems. Everything seems to be working. I’m calling it good. Thanks.

    Glad you got it working. Most likely WordPress did not completely upgrade the plugin, and left it only partially installed. (When WP upgrades a plugin, it unzips the new zip file, but if something happens on the hosting whilst it does that, it can leave only a partial install). UpdraftPlus does not run code on the front-end, so that’s the only way I know of that you can encounter those symptoms.
