My backups happen, but they’re not uploading to Google Drive. First, the WP Updraft interface said “you appear to be authenticated,” but the log file said “0008.241 Google Drive error when requesting access token: response does not contain access_token”.

I took the advice on another post in this forum and wiped the settings, then re-entered them. Now, the log file still says “0008.241 Google Drive error when requesting access token: response does not contain access_token”, but the WP Updraft interface no longer says I’m authenticated.

I have screenshots and the log file, but no way to attach them here? This seems like a great plugin, I’d like to get it working.

    Thanks!

Also, when I create or edit a page, this notice is at the top of the interface: “UpdraftPlus notice: Click here to authenticate your Google Drive account (you will not be able to back up to Google Drive without it).” But when I click the link, an error says “Cannot load Updraft.”)

Please disregard my first post – after a delay, my backups did upload to Google Drive. Cool!

However, I’m still seeing the alert at the top of all of my WP-Admin pages: “UpdraftPlus notice: Click here to authenticate your Google Drive account (you will not be able to back up to Google Drive without it).”

    Hi,

Thanks for the report. The apparent final situation is very confusing. I can’t work out a scenario under which all those things can happen. (Though one thing to realise is that a new log file is created for each backup job; it’s not a general log file for everything that happens; it looks like you read the same log file twice, given the identical timings, so at least once it was not relevant and was causing confusion).

The other puzzler is that the words “Cannot load Updraft” do not appear anywhere in the code for UpdraftPlus, so I can’t work out how that could have appeared. A screenshot of that would have been very good.

I can’t see how your backups could be working if that message is still appearing. Can you do another backup run and double-check? Be patient before concluding that nothing has uploaded to Google Drive – because interacting with the remote service is error-prone, going over a network (e.g. Google Drive itself may be temporarily down, even for a second), UpdraftPlus will try to retry lots of things. You should wait half an hour, and then reload the UpdraftPlus settings page, before concluding that it did not work (assuming that your successfully clicked the button in Google Drive to authenticate, that is).

    Hi,

I’ve just uploaded a new UpdraftPlus version – 1.3.14. This has various fixes to help people who need to change/make an error with their Google Drive settings, or who otherwise have a need to re-authenticate. Please give it a try and you should have a much smoother ride. Please let me know how you get on.

I did the upgrade, but I still see the link requesting authentication at the top of every page in the WP interface. When I click it the message says that I don’t have permission to access that page. I posted screenshots here:

    Thank you…

The latter one I’ve fixed. The problem there was that the link gave those errors unless you were on the UpdraftPlus page – which is where I must have been every time I tested it. So,either update (to 1.3.15), or first go to the UpdraftPlus page before clicking it.

The former one is something of a mystery. On the one hand I’d say that if the link is showing, then authentication must have failed. However, earlier you said that the backup is working. So that is very puzzling indeed, as the message shows if it can’t find its access token – and without that token it couldn’t send anything to Google. Are you sure that the backups are really now working?

Same problem here. The same alert as in https://screencast.com/t/qyqFtX3U
…and when clicking it, I get a Google error page saying:

    Error:redirect_uri_mismatch
The redirect URI in the request: https://www.example.se/wp-admin/options-general.php?page=updraftplus&action=updraftmethod-googledrive-auth did not match a registered redirect URI

David, you were correct. My backups were no longer working. I upgraded to 1.3.15, then authenticated again with Google and it is now working properly. I no longer see the alert to authenticate on all pages in the Admin interface. Thanks so much for the quick fix and clear instructions. I will donate to the plugin because now, my hard drive doesn’t have to get clogged with backups!

TStone: your error is different, and means that you mis-entered your site’s details in Google’s API console when setting up your client app there. Please start a new thread if neeed.
