Try this one… it tries to detect a broken PHP-zip install, and falls back to the previous (before last week) method if it thinks it finds one:

Hi, David,

I uninstalled 1.4.10 and installed 1.4.8, as you suggested. I didn’t set up the Google Drive backup, but just used the ftp. As before, it indicates the drive is writable, but it doesn’t do a backup.

The log is saying that you haven’t got a valid access token from Google. You need to re-authenticate. Are you using the same details on more than one site? Google doesn’t let that work.

Now, remember, the plug-in was working just fine for a few weeks. I changed my Google password, it stopped and I can’t for the life of me get it to work again.

So, I’ve done everything about a zillion times. Deleted everything, started a new API project, followed your install for dummies (which needs updating–the screens are a little different, now), blah, blah, blah. I’ve got it to the point where it writes a “start up” log file, but that’s it.

Thoughts?

What’s in the ‘”start up” log file’ on the latest version ?

The old log file does not give any information about your present problem. Can you confirm if the settings page is telling you that you need to re-authenticate, or not? The error message “Have not yet obtained an access token from Google (has the user authorised?)” should only display under the exact same condition that causes UpdraftPlus to display a message in the admin page saying that you’re not yet authorised… so it’s weird if one is happening and not the other.

Here’s what every log file I get (with time stamp changed) says:

Nothing else…

If I do a manual, Backup Now!, this is what I get. If I set up a time interval backup, it passes over it without doing the backup. If I do a Diagnostic backup (either one) I get a server error, but none of my server permissions have changed or been changed.

Setting page says, “You appear to be confirmed, but you can…etc.”. Whenever I “Save Settings” it goes back to saying I _do_ need to authorize, which I do and it says the authorization was successful.

Agreed…weird, because this is a great plugin and I want to use it.

OK…next steps? Can I send you screen shots or something? Delete all directories written to my server and start from scratch?

Hi, David,

I took a look at the above thread. Space is not an issue. My PHP coding is really rusty, so I don’t feel confident mucking around in there, plus the line 202 doesn’t track in my editor, so I don’t know where to start.

I disabled all plugins and tried again. Nothing but the log file.

The thing that is most baffling to me is that, when I first installed the plugin in the first part of January, it worked like a charm.

Php version is 5.3.8

Hi Michael,

You can use the plugin once you have a working PHP installation, since your present one causes PHP to die if you use the method_exists function. The PHP bug tracker can be found at https://www.google.com by typing in “PHP bug tracker”. It worked before because previous versions of UpdraftPlus did not use the PHP function which causes your PHP install to blow up.
