Updraft Plus 1.9.5 will not backup since 23/4/14

    Hello David,
    I cannot get Updraft Plus backup to work. It was working fine before it mysteriously stopped working on 24th April. Now it is not working at all and I have tried to get it to see Google Drive.

    I am running WordPress 3.9 and the twenty thirteen theme. Installed plugins are Akismet 3.0.0 – Captcha 3.9.9 – Limit Login Attempts 1.7.1 – Redirection 2.3.5 – Stop Spammer Registrations 5.9.3 UpdraftPlus 1.9.5 – Wordfence Security 5.0.6 WP-Form Assembly 1.1 and WP SlimStat 3.6.1

    UpdraftPlus reports the following error messages:
    backup_2014-05-05-2300_Bricolage_48504a5d9ed0-plugins.zip: Failed to upload to Google Drive
    backup_2014-05-05-2300_Bricolage_48504a5d9ed0-themes.zip: Failed to upload to Google Drive
    backup_2014-05-05-2300_Bricolage_48504a5d9ed0-uploads.zip: Failed to upload to Google Drive
    backup_2014-05-05-2300_Bricolage_48504a5d9ed0-others.zip: Failed to upload to Google Drive
    backup_2014-05-05-2300_Bricolage_48504a5d9ed0-db.gz: Failed to upload to Google Drive

    The log contains this lots of times:

    > (403) Access Not Configured. Please use Google Developers Console to activate the API for your project.

    Hi David,
    I don’t understand why the UpdraftPlus application stopped working. Google claimed that the drive was configured and authenticated correctly. I spent some time trying to re-authenticate the Google drive as you have suggested but no success there. I deactivated and deleted UpdraftPlus and then reinstalled it. Still no joy with Google drive activation.

    Eventually, the Google drive authentication defeated me. It was taking far too much of my time and without knowing what I am doing, I was reluctant to spend any more time on the issue. I had an authenticated Dropbox drive and that is what I am now using because it has worked for me. The Google drive issue has not gone away… I am just not using it. I have current backups now and that is all that I wanted to have.

    It may be helpful is to discover why a system that was evidently correctly set up (it worked every day without fault) and was working for some time, suddenly decided to stop working. It may well be user stupidity but I had not adjusted or altered anything nor had I installed any new plugins so my uneducated guess is that the problem lies elsewhere.

    I am so sorry to have bothered you with what must appear to you to be a rather trivial issue.

    Hi Jeff,

    Please also see: https://updraftplus.com/google-drive-users-check-google-drive-api-enabled-google-account/ . That blog post explains why, if you happened to miss out that step in the setup instructions previously, your Google Drive backups still worked up until recent releases.
