    Hello,

this error occurs on websites i administrate ; since the last automatic backup on may 15th all backups failed because of the folder (updrafts) owner being listed as nobody and rights on 0 (d———), as i am not root i can’t change the owner and can’t access the directory.
In updrafts settings i changer the backup directory and it’s all working well but i am a bit cautious about this behavior on the 15th of may.

    Any guess?

    Thanks

    Hi,

May I know what is the exact error message you are getting please?
Can provide us a screenshot of the error message? or a copy of the backup log? This will help us fine out the exact cause of the issue.

    Thanks,

    Hi,

    Thank you for the screenshots.

There appears to be a file permission issue, meaning UpdraftPlus or WordPress does not have the correct read or write permission to a certain folder or file.

The following article on Smashing Magazine is a good guide as to the file permissions/ownerships that are required for WordPress: https://www.smashingmagazine.com/2014/05/proper-wordpress-filesystem-permissions-ownerships/#file-and-folder-ownership-for-wordpress

    Kind Regards,

    Hi,

    thanks for taking time,
i know it is a file permission issue, and it is also about ownership’s directory as it is set up as nobody and i can’t change it as i am not root on this web server.

But what is important is i have the same file permission bug since 15th of may on several websites, it was working ok before that date.

Is it a hack or something?

    Hi,

UpdraftPlus does not have any control over the file permissions. You will need to ask your host about that. They may have some restrictions with setting file permissions.

    Thanks,

    ok thanks,
i learned today that since may they don’t allow backups, will have to go to 3rd parties solutions…
