    Hi Deb,

If you let UD run for longer, it should apply some techniques to try to cope with the resource constraints. Can you post a fresh log that’s from at least 45 minutes after the start of the backup?

I sure will, one is due for today – and it normally leaves my site down for several hours while it does its thing… If I get this resolved, I would like to go pro – but right now, it’s a show stopper. Thank you for getting back with me David, will post later today or tonight with a new log.

    Hi David,

Here’s the log file for your review: https://pastebin.com/8eubsBay

It does seem to have worked faster this time- I read somewhere to go into expert settings and adjust from 400MB to 100MB in UD, which may the reason it went faster today. Still it renders my site useless to visitors during the day on Thursdays while it’s backing up (its normal backup time)

Maybe it’s inmotionhosting? The I/O is @ 2MB and is usually maxed out when it is backing up. I can’t afford $100+ a month for VPS hosting (at least not yet) Is there ANYTHING we can do to alleviate things?

Many thanks again – I realize I am not a paying customer yet – and appreciate whatever remedy you might suggest.

    Cheers,
    Deb

    Hi Deb,

There’s a guide on minimising UD’s resource usage here: https://updraftplus.com/faqs/how-much-resources-does-updraftplus-need/ . It’s worth reading it all. There are things you can do, but there is a hard limit; if a hosting company doesn’t want people to use their own backup solutions, they always get the last word because they control the final limits. That’s a rare situation and you will certainly find many hosting companies who don’t apply such stringent limits.
