• I have tried to update the plugin to version 4.18.3 from version 3.11 and all my users with user role “editor” now see white text and tinyMCE is not loaded at all. Clicking on editor switcher buttons (Visual/Text) raises a javascript error in the console: “Uncaught ReferenceError: switchEditors is not defined”.
Also all boxes other than title, content, publish and categories are not displayed. Clicking on Screen options does nothing.

I tried fiddling with the settings but nothing worked.
Had to downgrade and all works once again.

  • I have the same error, but I don’t think it has something to do with User Role Editor. Turning it off didn’t help.

What version of WordPress do you use?
Check browser JavaScript console at the post editor for error messages. If there are any error messages, send them here (without real path to your site folder).

Hi Vladimir, the only error I get is the one in the initial post. That error only appears when I try to switch editors (text/rich). The tiny.min.js file is not loaded at all. WordPress version is 4.1.2.

Visual Editor works normally with URE at my sites. I suppose that the conflict between URE and some other plugin or theme may take place.

Try to deactivate all plugins except URE 4.18.3, switch to the standard theme, like 2015 and check if Visual Post Editor works. Then activate other plugins back one by one, until you get the tinyMCE problem back.
Let me know what plugin or theme causes the problem. I will try to repeat it at my test site.

WP 4.2.2 I have this error : Uncaught ReferenceError: switchEditors is not defined
My html code displays white and the visual editor no longer works plus my visual editor buttons are gone.
Anyone have a fix for this ?

Are you sure that URE plugin is a reason of a problem? What will be happened if you deactivate URE?
