Updating WordPress & switching to generate press from other theme now outdated

    Hi, was just live previewing your theme and it looks really nice and option of add-ons is great. I have a web site which was designed in Thesis 1.8.5. There was a problem with upgrading WordPress at one point with this version of Thesis (comments were getting messed up) so they did an update for people to enable 1.8.6 version and then the problem does not occur. To update involves FTP, saving your custom folder, changing permissions, etc. I am sure it will be fine but I have a lot of content and I want to be sure nothing gets messed up so I have not done so yet.

    After doing that, I was going to switch themes because it is not mobile responsive and time for something new. Now, I am wondering can I just switch to your theme and then update WordPress? Trying to figure out the order of things.

    Advice appreciated. Thank you!

    note: I currently have version 1.2.9.6 of your theme installed but not active at my site
