Yesterday I clicked the suggestion in /wp-admin to auto update my site, and it stopped me being able to access the “back” areas of my website. The site is still online, but any time I try to get into /wp-admin I get redirected to a 500 page: /wp-admin/upgrade.php?_wp_http_referer=%2Fwp-admin%2F

I have Googled and searched this site and tried all the solutions I could find with no success.

    I’ve:
    1. renamed the plugin folder
    2. renamed the theme folder
    3. checked the db version in phpmyadmin matches version.php
    4. checked the update.php file and replaced it with a newer version
    5. finally gave up and replaced all files except for wp-content
    6. also cleared browser cache to ensure that wasn’t an issue preventing me from getting in

The result: No change. My website still appears fine, but I cannot access wp-admin or any other area.
