Updating without FTP support

  • Is there an easy way to automate the WP update process if FTP isn’t enabled on the server? I constantly have to do the update process manually.

    If WordPress can write to the directory that it’s installed in, then typically the update does not use FTP.

    But if the web server is running as a different userid than your files (your ID) then the backup method of FTP will be used.
