A recent update notice appeared for premium version, but the update process seems to have updated the free version and deleted the premium version.

FTP inspection revealed that after updating completed, the folder giveasap had a newer date stamp and the folder giveasap-premium was missing.

I tried to access the support forums, but was not recognized as a user so I could not.

    Hi,

that is weird. I have tried to update the premium version myself on one of my sites. Everything went smoothly.

The plugin name is now “Simple Giveaways” so it may be moved a bit down in the plugin list, but the folder giveasap-premium should still be there.

Can you try and upload the premium version again and see what happens?

    Hello Igor,

I just repeated the update again with the same results.

I am updating from the network dashboard of a 4.7.3 WP multisite network.

Via FTP, I checked for the existence of the folders giveasap and giveasap-premium before updating and then I checked again after updating.

    Once again giveasap-premium was missing.

Do you have any server log? Maybe there is an issue with something else. A log file should provide other information on this situation.

The code should not be the issue since I have tried it on my own servers and everything worked as it should.

I did not try it on a multisite tho, but I can do that also and see what happens.

You can also send me an email with FTP & WP-Admin information on i.benic[at]hotmail.com so I can check it out myself.

I have updated it without any issues from the menu Giveaways > Account.

Now, there is not GiveASAP menu. It’s renamed to Giveaways, just so you know where to look at.

    Hello Igor,

    I am confused.

On the Account tab, when I select the Blue UPGRADE button or the UPGRADE tab, I encounter an upsell for the PRO version rather than initiating the version upgrade process for the existing plugin (which is already pro).

There is also a notice at the top of the screen telling me that I am still on free plan.

Hmm… It looks like you are still on the Free plan. If you did upgrade or change your plan, it’s probably an issue on our side – sorry. Please contact us here

It appears the license key was deleted during whatever upgrade process you initiated.

I replaced the license key, but it does not seem like it should get deleted during upgrade.

On the Account panel, what do I click to initiate a version upgrade rather than trigger an upsell offer?

FYI: I was not upgrading this way. I was upgrading from the WP network dashboard and that process is what was deleting the premium folder.

I tried to find the Account page on the network dashboard but I did not see it anywhere for some reason. That is why I went to do it this way.

I will see if I can find an answer. If not, I’ll contact the developers that provided this tool to handle upgrades in an easy way.

There might be something buggy with it.

    Hello Igor,

On multisite, the account menu item does not display in the network dashboard when Giveaway is only active on one or two subsites of the network. (I have NOT network activated Giveaway)

On the network dashboard, all available updates are retrieved by selecting the left hand menu item DASHBOARD>>Updates

When I update the plugin this way is when the issue occurs.

    **************************************

I am still unclear about your comment about updating via the ACCOUNT menu item on the specific subsite where Giveaway is activated.

After clicking on the account menu item, I still cannot find any option to update versions.

    What am I missing?

You’re not missing anything. It has been updated to the latest version so there is no option to update.

Once there is a new version, you can update it through the Account page.

    Thanks Igor

The new shortcode feature is AWESOME!
