CAN I GET SOME TRACTION SERIOUSLY SIMPLE PODCASTING DEVS? WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON, HERE?

I have just published a new podcast episode, on my hosting platform Megaphone, which feed you can see here https://cms.megaphone.fm/channel/lawfullycreative?selected=SELA1763160038 and here https://feeds.megaphone.fm/lawfullycreative.

However, I note that the podcast feed has not updated automatically on https://crefovi.com/series/lawfully-creative/, despite the fact that I have imported the megaphone external RSS feed on WP backend on Import/Settings/Podcasting.

<u>Consequently, what is the solution, please so that I may update this external RSS feed on crefovi.com WITHOUT having to import the whole feed, because overwise my back catalogue of 103 podcast episodes is going to get REadded to this ?</u><u> </u>

Thank you in advance and best regards,

    A. Gauberti

    Hi there @agauberti,

    Thanks for contacting us.

Seriously Simple Podcasting doesn’t update automatically when new episodes are found from an RSS feed. From the plugin page:

Castos is specifically designed to sync with Seriously Simple Podcasting to save you time. This means anytime you update your podcast’s information or upload a new episode file, the changes automatically sync with your Castos hosting account. You only have to do the action once, saving hours each week. Read more about how?Castos and Seriously Simple Podcasting work together.

With other podcast providers, you’ll need to make updates to your podcast’s RSS feed via your hosting provider account and again on WordPress to manually sync the information. Seriously Simple Podcasting is also unable to read a few metadata fields (like episode duration and publish date) from 3rd party hosting providers. For each episode, you’ll manually add that information as well.

The import is meant as a one-time process to migrate an existing podcast over to a WordPress page with Seriously Simple Podcasting activated.

For all new episodes that publish to your RSS feed, you’ll need to create a new episode on WordPress and paste the audio file URL from Megaphone into the episode file field under the Podcast Episode Details tab.

I hope that helps but let us know if you have any other questions and have a good day.

This is terrible: it means that I have to delete ALL my podcast episodes from my websites, before reimporting the External RSS Feed from Megaphone, everytime I want to publish a new podcast episode on our websites.

Surely, this cannot be the only way to update the podcast episode feed on crefovi.com and crefovi.fr.

What is the constructive and efficient solution here, please??

I get your drift, about adding all new episodes that publish to my SSL feed manually, by creating a new episode on WP Backend, in “podcasts”.

However, I have an issue with the podcast episode which audio file URL with Megaphone is https://www.podtrac.com/pts/redirect.mp3/pdst.fm/e/chrt.fm/track/2A256A/op3.dev/e/traffic.megaphone.fm/SELA1763160038.mp3?updated=1699025842 When I add it as a new podcast episode, by creating a new episode on WP backend, or by reimporting the whole 105 podcast episodes via the “Import” of your plugin SEriously Simple Podcasting, my website crefovi.com crashes, so I cannot see any podcast episode, and the following message displays on the page https://crefovi.com/series/lawfully-creative/

Lawfully Creative | Marta di Nozzi, gifted & inspired sound engineer at Abbey Road Studios

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 805306368 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 261255904 bytes) in /home/customer/www/crefovi.com/public_html/wp-includes/Requests/src/Requests.php on line 742

SO WHAT IS THE SOLUTION TO “REPAIR” THIS PODCAST EPISODE WHICH AUDIO FILE URL IS https://www.podtrac.com/pts/redirect.mp3/pdst.fm/e/chrt.fm/track/2A256A/op3.dev/e/traffic.megaphone.fm/SELA1763160038.mp3?updated=1699025842 PLEASE?

    Hi @agauberti,

The Fatal Error you mentioned means that your site is attempting to use significantly more memory than anticipated. Identifying the exact cause can be challenging. Have you tried using other hosting services to store the file? Does the issue persist in that scenario?

As a variant, you might consider hosting files directly on your WordPress site. Another option is to explore Castos hosting, which offers a 14-day trial period. Alternatively, you could engage a developer to conduct a more thorough investigation of the issue.”

I am with Megaphone, as a hosting provider, and I want to stay with them. Could it be that the podcast episode, which is 1 hour and 48 minutes’ long, is just too long for the import process on your plugin Seriously Simple Podcasting? Could that be the issue?

CAN I PLEASE GET SOME TRACTION?

RESOLVING THIS ISSUE QUICKLY AND EFFICIENTLY IS OF PARAMOUNT IMPORTANCE TO US AT CREFOVI!

?am with Megaphone, as a hosting provider, and I want to stay with them.

Could it be that the podcast episode, which is 1 hour and 48 minutes’ long and a 302 MB file, is just too long and/or too large, for the import process on your plugin Seriously Simple Podcasting? Could that be the issue?

If so, do I need to edit again that podcast, in order to reduce its size?

Would you please revert back to me asap????
