Updating server's PHP version

    So I’m setting up a wordpress blog but after I uploaded everything and tried to open the install.php page, I got this message;

    Your server is running PHP version 4.4.9 but WordPress 3.3.2 requires at least 5.2.4.

    I’m not very familiar on how to go about this. Could anyone help me on how I can update my servers PHP version?
