• I think I had heard/read somewhere about the importance of updating plugins when a new version comes out, due to security reasons (similar to updating one’s theme).

But, is that actually necessary or important. One plugin on one of our sites I upgraded last night; then found I was unable to get it to work at all at that point…so I disabled it, esp after finding so many others on their forum complaining on how the upgrade works (wish I’d read all of that BEFORE upgrading now!)

I think from here on out, I will wait and read other user feedback on a plugin upgrade, b4 doing the upgrade.

Yes, it is important that you update not only plugins, but all other software on your site including WordPress core, themes, etc. You need to update even inactive ones as they too can cause security and other issues.
