• Trying to put in a script in the HTML Gutenberg block and receive Updating failed. The response is not a valid JSON response. every time. Yes, you can switch over to classic mode, but then you can’t use Gutenberg Blocks. Even using the Classic block doesn’t work and I get the same results.

I have been able to use a script with the HTML block for some time now with no issues until a few days ago. No changes on my site and I have had NameHero look on their end and there is no issues with the server.

I have also tried turning off Mod Security when I make my post, but that doesn’t seem to work now.

InLinkz new of this problem some time ago and made a plugin so I can add their script code to a post.

Is WordPress going to help on this too?

  • Hello,

I have encountered this problem too but it turned to be an issue with a firewall setting. Once adjusted the problem went away. I don’t believe this to be a WordPress problem. Rather it is environmental. Do you have a firewall enabled? Are you using a caching plugin? Are you using a CDN? If yes, to any of them check your settings.

I have turned off Cloudflare and WP Fastest Cache and ModSecurity and it’s still an issue. I wouldn’t know what settings to look for. I’ve also read this may be a REST API problem. Thanks

I had to whitelist my IP address at CloudFlare and that fixed the problem. Thanks
