Updating Failed error

  • Hi,

    Did a fresh install which went fine; was editing/changing posts/pages fine, then:

    Did a few site/install/plugin revisions and started getting the updating error thing whenever I tried to create/revise a post/page.

    Changes included a firewall (ninja), still happened when disabled, updated htaccess, hiding behind cloudflare and that’s pretty much about it I think.

    This may be a plugin or theme conflict. Please attempt to disable all plugins, and switch to the default Twenty Nineteen theme. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of the problem.

    If you can install plugins, install Health Check. On the troubleshooting tab, you can click the button to disable all plugins and change the theme for you, while you’re still logged in, without affecting normal visitors to your site.

    I have same issue, brand new install of multisite.
    No plugins installed, I did have different theme but same issue when I activate Twenty Nineteen.

    Setting static front page and posts page works.
    Adding new user works.
    But when I try to save edits I have created on front page I get a message in red: Updating failed
    Also when I try to publish a new post, I get a message in red: Publishing failed

    I have discovered that when I replace Gutenberg editor with classic editor, pages and posts save fine. What is wrong with Gutenberg editor?

    For another test, I have installed another instance of wordpress on the same server with exact same server settings, only difference this time I did a single install, not multisite. This time everything works fine, so it is not my server settings, it has something to do with Gutenberg editor and multisite install.
