Updating Credit Card Auth.net: E00037

    I have members who let their Credit Cards expire and took so long to update the card that Auth.net (or PMP) cancelled/terminated their subscription with Auth.net.

    Now when they try to update their credit card, they get an error: E00037

    According to the Auth.net documentation, E00037 is Auth.net’s error code for a subscription that cannot be renewed/updated because it has been cancelled/terminated. Sounds about right.

    Shouldn’t PMP just try to create a new subscription since the old one was cancelled? Is anyone else running into this? If so, how did you get around it?

    Hi @sdpetersen,

    Thank you for using Paid Memberships Pro. I’m really sorry for the issue you are facing.

    Please let your user simply signup for their membership level again and this will recreate the subscription.

    Updating their account details won’t work in this case as the actual Authorize.net subscription doesn’t exist anymore since it’s expired.

    Thanks Andrew,

    When the users go to the membership level selection page, it shows their membership as already selected. Does that mean they need to change to a different level first and then select back to the one they were on already?

    Is there a Hook somewhere that I utilize to write custom code to recognize when Auth.net sends the E00037 and trigger it to create a new subscription instead of renew the old one? I’m worried too many users will get lost in the process of switching account types and back again.
