• I am newer to this plugin. I am just starting to use it to update my clients sites. Is it odd that it is taking over 10 minutes for it to update one plugin on just one single site?

I just don’t know and that’s why I’m asking. Plugin seems so cool but that seems like a super long time to me…

    Any advice appreciated!!

  • 10 minutes on a single site? It is extremely “odd”.

It supposed to be a few seconds. It depends on your hosts/servers/networks/sites of course, but most of the time I can’t tell the difference in speed if I upload/install/update directly on the client’s site or thrum MainWP even from our European server to our Aussie server location.

Actually, with MainWP you can drop and install/upgrade several different plugins (security, SEO, backup, etc.) at once on multiple sites (don’t need to add them one by one).

It’s a bit hard to give reasonable advice without more details on your setup.

Ps.: I’m currently managing 20+ sites with MainWP without any problem (and slowly converting some of our Joomla sites to WP). MainWP is fantastic and the main reason we’re switching to WP.

NO, actually I meant it took over 10 minutes to update one single plugin…on just one site :/

I see that it’s going to be fantastic once I get it all sorted out. I just wondered if that was normal so you are basically saying… NO it’s not ??

I’m also aware of all the updates and ‘stuff’ you can do at once as I did tons of research before adding all my sites into it; thank you for your information.

Anything in particular I can look at to see why this might be taking so long?

    I will keep tweaking it…

Everyone keep the ideas for me to try coming my way ??

@fourwhitesocks, the behaviour that you described is not normal. The MainWP plugin should be working much much faster even on shared hosting environments.

I will be happy to help with troubleshooting this issue. Can you please open a support ticket here: https://mainwp.com/support/

    Thanks

Ok but honestly I just started using it… could it have something to do with my internet connection? I will do some updates this morning and see how it is then report back.

*one thing to note is that the site I’m using to manage the child sites is running through Cloudflare…?

    * All of my sites are from the same hosting company except 1

@fourwhitesocks, if other sites load normally for you and only the Dashboard site is slow, the problem is not your Internet connection.

We have a lot of users using the Cloudflare and having all sites on the same server, but that doesn’t slow down their setups.

Please reach us on the support portal and we will investigate this.
