Updating Att. categories works only for one language

I have not done any testing with “ “Activate languages and translations for media” DISABLED, so I am setting up a separate system to verify what happens in that mode.

In the interim, you can try disabling Term Assignment, Synchronization and Mapping Replication. Go to the Settings, Media Library Assistant Language tab, scroll down, uncheck the boxes for these options and click “Save Changes” to record the new settings. Let me know if that helps.

I have set up a test system and done some experiments. I verified that if you disable the Term Assignment, Synchronization and Mapping Replication options you can “bind” media files to any combination of Att. Categories values you want. This works best if you are in the “All languages” mode as set by the language switcher dropdown in the Admin bar.

I also see that when you create or edit a post/page, the Media Manager Modal (popup) Window (MMMW) has a taxonomy dropdown control (e.g., “All Att. Categories”) that only shows the terms defined for the language of the post/page. Is this what you mean when you write “when I want to add photos in a post that is in Polish, I can’t see the English categories …“?

I will work on some changes to better accommodate this case. In particular, I will try to make two changes:

1. Change the default settings for Term Assignment, Synchronization to disabled if the Polylang “Activate languages and translations for media” setting is disabled.
2. Populate the MMMW taxonomy dropdown with all terms regardless of language when the media languages option is disabled.

Are there any other changes required for your application?

Yes, that is exactly what I meant – even in “All languages” mode you can only see the categories that are in the same language as the post you are editing.

I disabled Term Assignment, Synchronization and Mapping Replication and I can confirm it works fine for me right now.

Nothing else that I need so far, but I won’t hesitate to ask again if anything comes up ??

It would be great if you could install the Development Version and verify that the MMMW dropdown control shows all the Att. Categories values regardless of language. I believe that’s the last change you need for your application.

I have released MLA version 2.22, which contains the two fixes I outlined in my earlier post. I hope they address the issue you raised regarding terms displayed in the “All languages” mode. If there is anything else I can do, please post an update and I will look into it.
