  • It says you should create a folder (call it whatever you want BTW) and you can create it on your computer wherever you want it (just remember where it is ?? and then download from your exisiting WP 1.2 installation the files mentioned in the tutorial. After that follow the steps.

    Do the files I use in this folder come via ftp from my site or can I use the one’s I orginally uploaded that reside on my hard drive? Thanks.

    Of course, you can use those on your hard drive ?? I guess they are the same. In this case I still would suggest to make a copy of them in a separate folder (you know, in this way you’ll always have the originals in case anything goes wrong!) and play with them in that new folder.

    For some reason I haven’t been able to find the files the article called for, except for index.php. Are they specific folders? Thanks.

    ealvin,
    do you have a WP 1.2.x version installed somewhere? If so, you should have all those files
    a) on your server
    b) on your computer (as a backup)

    If you do not have a previous WP 1.2.x version WHY do you bother with this?

    No, I don’t have a 1.2 version installed. The reason I’m doing this is I want to use the template dots and it doesn’t have a 1.5 template. So I’m trying to go through the steps to add a style sheet, making it compatible. Does that make sense?

    Yeah, it makes sense, you just could have started with this… LOL
    OK, here is waht to do.
    1. Create a new folder named “dots” in your “wp-content/themes/” folder.
    2. Copy there the style.css and the images folder from the dots style. (BTW it is not a ‘template’ or ‘theme’… yet! We are just creating it ??
    3. Open the style.css in a text editor.
    4. Put in the top the following lines:
    /*
    Template: classic
    Theme Name: dots
    Description: Dots - A WordPress CSS Template. Copyright 2004 Alex King. Based on: Bloggia 3-Column Template by Alex King (https://www.bloggia.com/styles/bloggia_themer/)
    Author: Alex King
    Author URI: https://alexking.org

    */

    Save it. Upload (FTP) the whole dots directory.
    Go to your Presentation panel and select your new theme.
    I hope it will work – it worked on my local install.

    That worked, thanks.
