Updates Via FTP Do not Work

    Ever since I started using WordPress (2.7.1), I could not (and still cannot) update plugins and, just recently, upgrade to 2.8. I enter my FTP details properly and all other information is correct, but every time it comes back with some sort of an error, not necessarily consistent, but an error, nonetheless. This is especially annoying becaus, at this time, i have several plugins due for an upgrade. I will upgrade them manually, but for the future, I would like to have this great feature available.
