• Every time I update Download Manager through the WordPress Plugin Manager, the update does a complete replacement of the assets/file-type-icons and tpls/link-templates directories. In the process this deletes my custom icons and a custom link template. Is there a way to prevent this or a better way for me to integrate custom icons and a custom link template which would not involve having them stored within in the download-manager directory structure?

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

You shouldn’t edit plugin file or add custom files under plugin directory. There is no way to keep your files during update procedure if those are in Download Manager directory.

Custom link template support not available in free version. Pro version has this feature.

If you want to use custom icon, place those somewhere else and use the url in icon settings. You won’t lose the icon after update if you do that.
