• Question – it seems every time there is an update, many features on my site just stop working and I have to hit up my guru.com coder to fix hours worth of things. I have a custom theme and we’ve recently found some errors in that (and I’m not a coder – so I have no idea why this happens). nweither does he. I’ve also had a few wordpress experts (via guru.com) look into this and they all create work arounds that don’t fix the root problem (whatever that is). Any suggestions? I really appreciate your time.

is there a certified wp coder list? are any of the developers on guru or freelance etc?

It is the responsibility of the plugin or theme developer to keep their plugins and themes updated as WordPress changes. Many of them do it as a hobby in their spare time.

Themes and plugins usually break because they were doing some things wrongly, such as using old functions which have been deprecated.

There isn’t any certification, but the popular plugins are usually well maintained. Anyone can develop for WordPress core, although there’s only a small group who can commit those changes to the repository. I’m not sure if they’re available for freelance work.

Whoever made the plug in made it incompattible with the new wordpress make sure all you’re plugins are compatible by looking at the plugin site.
