Updates and Category changes

  • Ugh! Searching the internets for WordPress help is incredibly frustrating. There are all these great articles that mention functions and features I cannot find anywhere in my WordPress. Of course, that may be because I’m due for an update. I see “An updated version of WordPress is available” all over my blog, but cannot determine which version I am on. And apparently, there is a simple automatic update option available for certain versions.

    So how about I start with someone enlightening me to finding out which version I have, then I can get on with the rest of my questions.

    Ok, I figured out that I’m on 2.6.2, but last time I updated, I broke everything. Is there an easy to follow guide for updating to the latest release?

    I got the backup and update done, but when I query my DB, it shows all posts have a category of 0. Makes it hard to move them around via scripts. What am I missing?
