• I updated to wordpress 4.4.1 on my website recently. After the update was completed I was presented with a screen indicating the database needed to be installed. After clicking the button to install the database, I received a “not found” error message.

I attempted to resolve the problem by disabling the plugins, increasing memory to PHP and disabling the theme. Nothing worked.

I ran a database diagnostic and received the following error:

    wp_termmeta: Table ‘honeybad_wordpress.wp_termmeta’ doesn’t exist

  • I would recommend trying to reinstall WordPress manually and see if you are experiencing the same issues after that. Sometimes there can be glitches when updating that are fixed by performing it again manually.

If it doesn’t work for you, or you feel like trying another way, you can try this:

Just to elaborate on Eric’s response a little more…

Try downloading WordPress again, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel, and delete then replace your copies of everything except the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory with fresh copies from the download. This will effectively replace all of your core files without damaging your content and settings.

Some uploaders tend to be unreliable when overwriting files, so don’t forget to delete the original files before replacing them.

Thanks for the heads up, Matthew! ??
