Updated to 4.4, post links gone

  • Hi there, my first post here, but long time wordpress user. After all of these years, I’ve encountered my first problem with an update.

    I did an “auto” update to 4.4 this morning and all of the links for my posts are now gone, they simply link to the home page. I of course didn’t back up anything, because like I said, I’ve never had a problem in all the years…anyway,

    So far I’ve tried

    -disabling all plugins
    -reverting permalinks back to “plain” (didn’t work) and then back to “post name” (still didn’t work)
    -deleting (or renaming) the htaccess file
    -re-installing wordpress

    It is a custom theme, but a very simple one.

    Any thoughts? I’m happy to hear ideas of anything I might look at. FWIW, I’m not too savvy wit code, so bear with me if I need noob explanations.

    Update: I just tried one of the default themes, and low and behold, it fixed the issue, though looked like hell, lol.

    If anyone has any tips on how I might dig into my custom theme to possibly fix this, I’m all ears. It was designed in 2013 by a buddy…so it’s not something that’s been updated since then, nor is there a support line

    I’m in the same boat, but updating to a default theme didn’t fix it for me. Nothing works other than to remove the permalinks and use the default “ugly” ones.

    Would love some guidance here. ??

    fixed it!

    it was in the loop-entry.php

    changed this <a href=”<?php the_permalink()

    I meant in the loop-entry.php entry, I changed this

    a href=”<?php the_permalink(‘ ‘)

    remove the: ‘ ‘

    I was just taking shots in the dark. My theme is so minimal there wasn’t a lot to change.
