• I uploaded my blog to WP 3.2 and everything seems to be working fine. I went to add a new post and and the flash image uploader kept freezing on me if I try to batch upload a large number of images. I can upload one image at a time, but if I try uploading a number of images it will upload and “crunch” the first image then freeze.

I am using the Prophoto3 theme. I have tried deactivating all my plugins and switching to the default theme with no luck. Even with everything turned off and the default WP theme activated my problem persists

  • Have you tried a different browser and checked for updated flash? Is the first image the same one each time you tried?

    a number of images

How many? I just did 8 with no problem.

I’ve updated flash and I’ve tried both Chrome and Firefox. The first time I tried it was 95 images which was no problem before the update.

    I have tried

-uploading a fresh copy of WP-Admin and WP-Includes onto my server.
    -resetting my plugins
    -unistalled and reinstalled Flash
    -clearing local flash cookies
-I’ve tried renaming the files and uploading them in different order

Always it uploads the first file. The secong file freezes on “Crunching. The 3rd and 4th files upload, but the 5th file freezes at “Crunching”

In the Upload window I get a “HTTP error” in red. When I click “Cancel” on the upload I get a message say “Shockwave has become unresponsive” and asks if I would like to stop it.

The problem could be with the images – not the uploader.

I thought of that as well so to test I started on the second image (the that was getting stuck in the first place) and it uploaded fine but the next image got stuck on “Crunching”

I don’t get an HTTP error, it uploads fine. It just doesn’t offer to insert the image into my post.

@questox: Stop posting the same thing all over the place and start your own topic.

esmi – Not sure…You may have help me, or been right about the image lol.

So I went to that first article you posted and I saw that I had forgot the replay the root WP files so I did that. I then cleared the cash in my browser and restarted.

I then tried a mass upload (48 images) of a completely different set of images and it all worked……So either replacing the root WP files did it or WP just didn’t like the images I was trying to upload.

    Cheers dude!

Well it looks like my problem isn’t fixed. Sometimes the Flash uploader will work but most of the time it doesn’t.

I just finished manually installing the 3.2.1 WordPress update and it didn’t fix the problem I’m having.

I deactivated all my plugins, deleted everything except WP-Content folder, WP-Config file and my .htaccess file. I then uploaded everything fresh from the WordPress download I got from here and nothing.

I have tried in the 4 major browsers and the same problem happens in all 4. I tried reinstalling flash (since the popup I get says Shockwave plugin crashed) and that hasn’t helped either.

    Damn this is frustrating!!

I don’t see where you have tried the twenty eleven theme – have you done that? [Edit] Sorry, I see you did try that.

You might find better support here, https://www.prophotoblogs.com/support/ as you have a commercial theme.

@kmessinger : Yeah, I have contacted ProPhoto and they sent me an updated version of the theme for WP3.2 and I still had the problem.

I then contacted my host (DreamHost) and they tried editing my .htaccess file. After I got the email from DreamHost support I tried uploading the same files I was having problems with and I still got all the same errors. I then tried uploading other images and they uploaded fine.

So I took the images I was having problems with and reordered them, renamed them and tried uploading…..It worked fine.

This happened about a week ago as well. I thought everything was fixed. I shot some pictures, edited then then tried uploading them to the blog and I got the errors. I reordered and renamed and everything uploaded fine.

So, there is something happening to the images the first time I size and name the images for upload that the new WP3.2 doesn’t like…..Something that gets fixed if I reorder and rename.

Just to let everyone know, I had the root directory password protected before a site launch in .htaccess. This was fine for using the WordPress admin but was causing my http error on image upload.

I was having this problem today, and

after trying a few things, including upgrading Flash etc,

and then discovered somehow my uploads folder url (in WP settings) was with a capital L in “upLoads” …so I changed the uploads folder name to also have a capital “upLoads”

    I also renamed the images…

    and it works

FWIW, I had a similar problem (no image data after attempting an upload) and the cause was a simple permissions screw-up. I moved the uploads directory in from another WP instance and had set it to 777, but neglected to 777 the enclosed files.

Applying 777 to all enclosed items took a few minutes, but worked!
