    Hi,
I updated this am to 2.6.2 via the automated plugin and although it completed the process, the site still tells me that it’s 2.6.1, now I don’t know what version I’ve got loaded. How do I find out please?

    Then you didn’t really update.

The version you have loaded is the version that the admin screen tells you you have loaded. Always.

Well I went through the entire process and it checked out as having upgraded the site including the screen telling me upgrade succeeded. I’ll try it again.

Well this is what I get when I start the ftp process:

Warning: ftp_site() [function.ftp-site]: /public_html: No such file or directory. in /www/business/5382/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-automatic-upgrade/wpau_prelimcheck.class.php on line 185

But then below that it says:

Great all done WPAU is ready to roll. Click here so that we can start the upgrade.

Then it successfully backs up the DB and informs me that:

Get or upload the latest version of WordPress

So I click on “Let’s Go”

    OK

We succesfully completed the task which, Downloads / Uploads the latest files for wordpress.

Next Task -> Puts the site into maintenance mode

Please CLICK HERE to go to the next task.

    But now I’m getting:

Warning: copy(/www/business/5382/index.php) [function.copy]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in /www/business/5382/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-automatic-upgrade/wpau_upgrade.class.php on line 361

I’ve already had the host change permissions on this directory. Infuriating

If the automatic update doesn’t work, then why not do it manually?

Seriously, it’s easy to upgrade yourself. Just follow the instructions.

Yes, I’ve done several times it’s just finicky as I have to make sure I don’t wipe out the plugins, themes etc.

I have managed to use the automatic process before without a problem though.

    Okay, thanks

I agree with Otto, manually seems to work better. Just make sure to backup your data base prior.

My advice, backup the site is a separate folder (e.g., yoursitebackup) and then commence the backup. If you screw up you have the old files. ??
