• Dear community

My wordpress crashed tonight. I use an Elma Studio theme (MOKA), and for the picture slider, Jetpack was installed.

Yesterday I saw there is a new Jetpack version, so I clicked “update”, which took place automatically then. Then there was a green symbol signaling: Done, alright. But when I renewed the page or clicked any other part of the website (wordpress admin, website itself …), nothing worked anymore. Here is the error message:

    Fatal error: Uncaught exception 'Exception' with message 'There is no suitable CSPRNG installed on your system' in /var/www/web491/html/wp-includes/random_compat/random.php:205 Stack trace: #0 /var/www/web491/html/wp-includes/random_compat/random_int.php(153): random_bytes() #1 /var/www/web491/html/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/sync/class.jetpack-sync-queue.php(41): random_int() #2 /var/www/web491/html/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/sync/class.jetpack-sync-listener.php(205): Jetpack_Sync_Queue->__construct(3) #3 /var/www/web491/html/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/sync/class.jetpack-sync-listener.php(32): Jetpack_Sync_Listener->set_defaults(1, 1000000) #4 /var/www/web491/html/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/sync/class.jetpack-sync-listener.php(24): Jetpack_Sync_Listener->__construct('sync') #5 /var/www/web491/html/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/sync/class.jetpack-sync-actions.php(277): Jetpack_Sync_Listener::get_instance() #6 /var/www/web491/html/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/sync/class.jetpack-sync-actions.php(72): Jetpack_Sync_Actions::initial in /var/www/web491/html/wp-includes/random_compat/random.php on line 205

I cannot say which WP version I used. It was rather new, though. But I cannot open the admin anymore to check …

    Does anyone have an idea??

    Thanks. Best,
    Stefan

  • Hello,

    too big worry:

? Fatal error: Can not find a library with slug-admin pages / class
    jetpack-landing-page. in / home / forumsos / sospc
    name / wp-content / plugins / jetpack / require-lib.php on line 35

    ? I solved by reinstalling the 4.2.2

    Hi Christophe
    Thank you for your help.
    4.2.2 of … WordPress or Jetpack? ??
I would reinstall by directly changing the files on the server, right? Because I cannot get in the admin area anyway.

    Best,

    Stefan

    Hello,

    yes Jetpack by ftp

Thanks for the report! We’re looking into it, and you can follow our progress here:
    https://github.com/Automattic/jetpack/issues/5105

In the meantime, could you contact your hosting provider, and ask them to check your server configuration to make sure it supports functions like random_bytes and random_int? That would help, too.

You can also install a previous version of Jetpack, as @supermagicien suggested.

I’ll post again as soon as I have news!

@supermagicien That’s a different issue, most likely caused by your server’s aggressive caching. We’ll also solve this in 4.3.1, but if you’d like you can patch your version of Jetpcak 4.3 by adding a file to your Jetpack installation, as mentioned here:
    https://github.com/Automattic/jetpack/pull/5098/files

Hello Hervé Jeremy (I do not know which is the first name: o) <)

thank you for your return, it reassures me to know that this is not my installation of wordpress that is involved,

I prefer to wait 4.3.1, thank you!

Big thanks to both of you!

I will try to reinstall the 4.2.2 version later today. Also, I did ask my provider to find out about the two functions in question. I will keep you posted!

    Best,
    Stefan

    They responded quickly:

Both functions are not available. The reason, I am told, is that those functions would need access to the devices ‘/dev/arandom’ and/or ‘/dev/urandom’, which are not supported by my provider.

    I hope this helps …

    Hello,

one tip : if you want to recover access to your site quickly , just rename the extension via ftp jetpack in jetpack.old

This turns out to be more complicated than expected (to me). … Where would I find Jetpack in the ftp? I had installed it via the WP admin dashboard. I cannot find it in wp-content/plugins – but there it should be, no?

    THANKS!

    par ftp : your site/wp-content / plugins / jetpack

    OF COURSE.

Thank you very much. I did rename the folder “.old”, and I could use WordPress again immediately. That was very good advice. Now I will experiment with the older version. I will follow what is being found out about the issue …

    Best, Stefan

    With pleasure ;o)<

Not sure what the procedure is here, but I’m having the same problem and am following this thread. I’m in the process of restoring the last version of jetpack also (it worked). No need to respond to me, but I’m willing to try out any fix or patch version when you have one ready.

My host is doteasy . com, my website is verduins . com (not sure if urls are allowed.)

    Thanks.

We’re testing this patch right now:
    https://github.com/Automattic/jetpack/pull/5108

We plan on including the patch in the next version of Jetpack, that will be released later today, or tomorrow if tests reveal some issues.

    Hi all,
I have the same issue. My website is broken and the admin panel as well.
I need some help how to install the Jetpack 4.2.2 version manually. Until today I have used only the admin panel to install plugins.

I would appreciate if someone could give a quick advise.

    Regards,
    Mark the hobbyangler
