Updated date on posts

Hello, I would like to know how to remove the second “updated” date that appears on my posts if I happen to change or add anything to the post. I would like to keep just the original “published on” date. A previous post on this forum recommended removing css code from the theme, but I am looking for a solution that does not involve messing with the theme code (unless absolutely necessary).
