• Resolved gottoast

    (@gottoast)

Hi, I’ve recently updated to the most recent version of WordPress. When I did, it altered the layout of my page, and I’m not sure how to fix it back. I use the wordpress theme Motion 1.1.6, and updated that as well to see if it would resolve the problem. What seems to have happened is that hte posts no longer wrap around, the sidebar was lost, and categories began appearing at the top of the site, when they were never set to be there in the first place. I would welcome any suggestions as to how to restore the older version or fix my problems. I’m fairly noob at this, and I know that that is part of my problem.

My site can be viewed at https://www.igottoast.com
If you click on an actual post, the page it takes you to is displayed more or less correctly (with the exception of the ‘categories’ listed across the top). For example: https://igottoast.com/?p=564

Thank you for any advice or help.

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    I’ll give that a try.

It was suggested that I use filezilla to change the top file directory back to the original name (drop the .old) while I troubleshoot. I’ve tried that with filezilla, but it seems to make no difference. Do I need to re-upload the renamed file folder to my server site?

Just stick with the suggestions I gave first.
