updated 3.4 now my media library and ftp files don't match

  • My media library was wiped out when I updated. I restored them back through ftp from a backup but I still couldn’t see them in my media library. I uploaded all the files back into the media library but I can’t see the recently uploaded files when I look through FTP. It might be my theme because I can upload images through wordpress, but I can’t upload them for my sliders, I get a “cheatin’ eh?” message. Where did my recently uploaded images go if I can’t see them in FTP?
    The site displays and functions fine but I am afraid to go live with this problem. Can I go back the the last version of wordpress?
