• Beginning today, each time I try to open a page on my website, an application attempts to download titled update_flash_player.exe

    The first time I agreed to the “update” and got a warning that said “Update_flash_player.exe is not commonly downloaded and could be dangerous.” The explanation then warns of a possible phishing or malware scheme.

    I cancelled the download and my website page then displayed starting halfway down my screen. I cannot get it to display normally as it insists that I install this suspicious update.

    This is only happening in my Chrome browser. I have removed unwanted extensions, scanned for adware and malware (all clear) and even tried uninstalling and reinstalling Chrome. The problem persists. My webpages displayed halfway down the screen.

    I should add that I have had the website for over two years and have never encountered this type of request to “update” before.

    Has anyone encountered this, or can anyone proffer an explanation of what is happening and what can be done about it?
