But the update CHECK (the part of WP that ‘phones home’ to say ‘Do I have an update?’) is NOT the same as the part where you go to plugins, search for a plugin and download one.

And I’m not sure which one robov means with this

Are you getting notifications when your PLUGINS need to be updated?

I do not know if I get notifications of plugins, guess they are not outdated yet.

I am really lost now on how to do updates… and even worse… I feel stupid that I cannot figure out why it is not working

It shows version 3.1.2 in the lower right hand corner and it still mentions: You have the latest version of WordPress.

There’s an easy (manual) way to check, y’know ?? Go to the plugin directory on this site and see if any of your plugins are out of date.

You get plugin update notcies in network admin. Yu’ll see a number in a circle on the updates menu, even in the admin bar, and on the updates screen it will show you any plgins or themes that need updates as well as core.

Don;t feel stupid tho, cuz its quite possible the server you’re on could have it blocked as well.

thanks , I did see plugin and wp updates on my other (non multisite) sites. Even on the same server…
But I feel stupid I cannot get teh multisite to update…
I have no clue what to do next to figure out why it is not updating and how to fix that…

It’s not something in and of MULTISITE that would restrict the phone-home to the server to check for updates. And unless we’re talking same server, same user account, same everything, then there STILL could be differences.

Ask your host if they block any phone-home features?

or if they have it blocked in the firewall on that account.
