Update versions question

  • I noticed the sub version numbers don’t increase regularly but sometimes skip a sub version number. E.g. 1.11.20 – 1.11.21 – 1.11.23. What is the logic behind this?
    Moreover the update of 28/Dec/2015 was somehow skipped in the sites I manage (over 40). So today I saw updates from 1.11.20 to 1.11.23.
    Probably not a big deal but I thought it was worth mentioning it here.

  • In software development, there may be version number changes pertaining simply to internal versions that don’t always get pushed out, often due to further changes being made before the rollout that warrant another version change. These changes are primarily due to the code maintenance and versioning system in place, and shouldn’t be a cause for concern.
