Update URLs

I have a simple blog for announcements and informational articles which we want to move from a sub-directory of out document root https://www.mydomain/news to a subdomain folder at the server root blog.mydomain.com. I’m a WP newbie and unsure of what needs to be updated with Update URLs. In particular, I am worried about replacing valid links from WP posts to content in our shopping cart.
If I use:
old url = https://www.mydomain.com/news/
new url = blog.mydomain.comwill that convert valid links in posts to content in main domain, e.g. https://www.mydomain.com/products/ptoductA.html
to https://blog.mydomain.com/products/ptoductA.html, which would be invalid?
