When I updated to WP 5.5 yesterday the home page of my site (which is just the classic blogger “recent posts” page) broke.

Instead of having ten individual posts nicely spaced like normal, all of them were piled directly on top of one another where the first post should be.

This seems to be the only thing that is broken, but it’s a real duzy, and it makes the site totally unusable.

May have something to do with how 5.5 handles the masonry script, but I don’t really know. (I’m a machinist, not a web programmer.)

I have already tried the jQuery Migration Helper plugin to no avail (didn’t do anything, near as I can tell, certainly didn’t solve the problem).

Could really use some help here. I love this theme, but I cannot just not update WP for the rest of time, so I need to figure out what is causing the theme to break and how to fix it so it will work going forward.

I have reverted the site to the previous version of WP, so it is now working. The below link is to the page in question, but it will look correct if you visit, because I undid the update. That’s what it’s SUPPOSED to look like.

    Thank you for your time.

  • So I did the fix editing masonry-init.js
But what’s interesting is whenever I first visit the home page, it will still have the posts on top of each other. But when I resize the browser window (either smaller or fullscreen), as long as the posts move into or out of their columns once (I think anyone familiar with Oblique would know what I mean), everything is magically fixed and back to normal.

Any ideas what could be wrong or where I should look and check?

Thanks very much Rakaloah – That fixed it!

THANK YOU! THANK YOU THANK YOU!
I fell in love with this theme and I have it on 4 of my sites. I was so distraught when I found it was unsupported and then WordPress broke it. All of those sites are reverted back to the old version of WP now to keep them working, and now I can update! Such a simple fix. Just 3 letters! Thank you!
