    Hello WooCommerce team,

as you might have read in other threads / sources, your newest update 5.7.0 forces many shops to re-setup WooCommerce although they were completely up and running before. We maintain 20+ WooCommerce shops, and see the problem in two thirds of them. We use many different hosts in different data centers and the WooCommerce installations are very heterogenous.

The problem is, that on the dashboard we are shown the WooCommerce setup widget saying “Step 1 of 6”. If we enter the WooCommerce page itself (admin.php?page=wc-admin) and just return to the dashboard, it suddenly says “Step 5 of 6”, without us having done anything.

On the page “admin.php?page=wc-admin we are shown five ready checkmarks (the topmost entries), but two not checked ones on the bottom: “Set up marketing tools” and “Personalize my store”. We don’t want to make any changes here to get rid of this and restore normal functionality especially of the dashboard widget, because we fear to destroy the shops in this buggy, potential unforeseeable situation.

In other threads we saw your support team writing, that you admit this is a bug and will see that in the future it won’t happen again. That’s great, of course.

But you don’t write anything what we as your users have to do now.

    1. Shall we wait and don’t change anything until you release a hotfix in the next hours / days?

    2. Shall we re-setup the open steps ourselves to hopefully get everything back to normal? Couldn’t this crash something, since we have a bug here and will perform our re-setup steps in a buggy situation at all?

Please help us and many others soon and tell us what to do now.

    Greetings,
    -doffine

That’s excellent news. Thanks for taking the time to let us know!

This was way more obnoxious than simply a re-setup prompt. I went through the prompts to get rid of it, and it broke almost everything I had surrounding shipping settings, and still finding issues. I had to re-add all of my custom boxes to the FedEx shipping plugin, redo all of my rate modifiers, shipment orders, free shipping thresholds, etc.

Thanks yet again for another wonderful X.X.0 update WooCommerce developers. This is almost as bad as the recent one that brought websites to their knees from an indefinite loopback issue with some queries.

WTF are you guys doing with testing? Just pushing it out to the public with your fingers crossed?

I just installed 5.7.1 on a different site, and this issue still isn’t fixed as far as I can see. I’m being prompted to setup WooCommerce… I specifically avoided 5.7.0 on this site because of the issues I ran into on my other site. It’s nice to see that you guys still didn’t manage to fix this.

    Hi @biohazardousx,

Apologies for the inconvenience. WooCommerce developers are already aware of this issue and are working on it. There is an open issue in Github:

Feel free to hit the subscribe button to receive further updates.

I’m going to close this thread as everyone can now follow the Github post.
