  • Hey @teqtoo,
If you are having trouble updating wordpress automatically then you can try updating it manually. You just need to download the latest version of wordpress from www.remarpro.com and change the file following steps mentioned below:

    1. After getting latest version of wordpress copy the wp-content and wp-config.php which contains your site data and your database information.

    2. Delete all the files in wordpress and paste the latest version files.

    3. Replace wp-content and wp-config.php file with the old one which you copied and saved.

    4. Nothing more, Your wordpress is updated!

    Thank You,
    Regards,
    Srawan.

Is it better to download the wp-content and wp-config.php files via ftp to my computer before installing the update? Or to make a copy of those on the server? Or both?

    Hey @teqtoo,
You can continue with any of these two options. Your only aim is not lose the wp-content & wp-config.php file beacause losing any of these file will destroy your site. So, you can go forward with any option you feel comfortable with.

    Thank You,
    Srawan.
