I run a test and development version of the site I administer under XAMPP 1.8.2 on Windows. (see apachefriends.org for XAMPP info.) I test out new content and other changes there, and use it to test the site with new versions of WP, plugins, or themes before applying those updates to the live site.

Today I tried to update from 4.0.20 to 4.0.21. The update failed with a message that the update process was unable to delete old files. When I looked in wp-content/plugins/si-contact-form/, I saw that the captcha/ directory and five .ttf files within it remained.

    FYI.

  • Hi kjohnson_2, have you tried to delete version 4.0.20 and make sure that the folder is also deleted then tried to install the latest plugin version 4.0.21?

    SOP.

Sure, same procedure as for 4.0.20, as described in this earlier topic.

Yes, that works, of courset. The problem is that the font files can’t be deleted by the upgrade process in this environment, apparently.

Hi that might be the case, however as long as you can update the contact form plugin then all is good. Xampp 1.8.2 is now old they are running Xampp 1.8.3 and above. I also run Xampp 1.8.3 on my laptop and use it all the time ??

This issue is not related to this plugin it is more a Xampp configuration setting.

If your issue has been resolved could you mark this support thread as resolved.

    Thank you

Hi kjohnson_2 is your issue resolved?

Don’t see this issue on newer versions, workaround available.

The problem you describe : “.ttf files have stuck open file handles” is a bug in PHP itself but only on windows servers. The bug was reported in 2003 and has never been fixed. I have no way to fix that. If you restart the server the files are unlocked and can be deleted.
