Hello, I updated to the latest version and wordpress asked me to log in again to my dashboard to see what’s new in this version and everything was in Italian. I am Italian ad I live in Italy but I’ve always used the English version. How can I go back to English?

I have checked the wp config file and there in nothing in the (‘WPLANG’, ”); but I have a it_IT.mo file in the language folder.

I disabled my WordPress multilingual plugin months ago (that’s why I have a it.mo file)

Is enough to delete the it_IT.mo file to go back to English? I don’t wanna mess up everything….

    thanks guys ??

If you have tried a different language in the past, WordPress might have saved that in an option and now is using that to display the admin screen in that language. Go to the Settings -> General panel (you may need to translate a bit for this) and scroll to the bottom. There is an option named “Site Language” here. See what it is set to. Change it to what you prefer and click the red Save Settings button.

Thanks a lot MacManX!!!!The Issue is resolved!

This WPLANG issue reflects upon some research I did earlier about the database changes from 3.9 to 4.0 and possible impact upon reverting to the earlier version. The answer was that the only change was the introduction of a new option for “WPLANG”, previously it was only input as a “defined” value, the upgrade took this value (if any) and created a new option for it, and hence making it persistent and hence bound into the database.

So it would seem that @designerinfashion had enough of a language setting present for it to be picked up and made persistent. So as well as checking the “Site Language” setting, it would also be worth checking the WPLANG option in the database.
