I am working on a custom theme for a client. I use StudioPress Genesis (v2.0.2) & WordPress. Currently I work in a local environment, using WAMP.

In my theme I’ve got a fully widgetized homepage and a sidebar in internal pages. Homepage widget areas are made by me and the sidebar in internal pages is from Genesis.

The widgets that I use are custom widgets by me, from Genesis, Black Studio TinyMCE widget or Recent Posts from WordPress installation.

After updating to 3.9.1 all widget areas were empty, except Genesis sidebar that had the default Recent Posts left (other widgets had disappeared). I had to re-populate all widget areas with the widgets and their contents.

I am curious if others are seeing similar issues.

  • Can you replicate the problem using the default Twenty Fourteen theme with all plugins deactivated?

Well… Silly me. All the widgets were in the bottom of the page (Admin/Appearance/Widgets) in the Inactive Widgets section.

We have had this exact same issue on 3 separate 3.9.1 websites now. in the last week. We use widgets a lot.

We set up all the widgets – then at some point when you click onto the widgets page again – it instantly throws all the widgets into inactive in one go.

It appears that simply loading the page throws them all into inactive.

This appears to be an issue with 3.9.1 only – 3.9 does not that.
How to we go about informing WordPress about something like this?

    Regards
