I updated wordpress and extensions and then had a blank page. I found that ETD was generating a fatal error :
PHP Fatal error: Class ‘Builder_Controller’ not found in wp-content/plugins/email-to-download/app/controllers/shortcodes_controller.php on line 9

So I put 2.0.8 back and it’s working.

  • Is there a way of retrieving the email addresses without activating the 3.0 plugin? I don’t want to lose the email addresses that I have collected.

    Hello Guys

I do apologize for the issue you are having. Strange enough, I can’t see the issue in my test site, even in a fresh install.

But I have pushed a possible fix, could you please update to 3.0.1 and check if the issue is solved?

I have updated to 3.0.1. I am missing the icon now to insert the shortcode. I found my old shortcode but it places the message at the top of the post when I have placed the shortcode at the bottom of my post.

Also, it’s not inserting my personalized text into the download box.

Exactly the same problem as murrayben :
    – No shortcode insertion icon in the editor.
    – Old shortcodes creates generic download buttons at the begining of the post, not where they were placed.

However I saw the there was a new column in the subscribers list, to see what file they downloaded. It was a very waited function.

    Waiting for ETD 3.0.2 ??

Thanks for your valuable feedback. We are working on the fixes and very soon (1-2 day) we will release another update.

Please note that, shortcode loaded in the editor is removed to reduce runtime and increase performance. If we can’t find any optimum way to bring it back in next version, we will add a note in a place about the shortcode and bring it back in a later version.

We are really sorry for the issues you are having after recent releases. We have developed the plugin as a toy, but later we took it seriously. Now, we have plan to add more features into this plugin (like customized email, custom input field etc), so we needed to refactor the codebase.

Thank you for your patience and trust on us.

    DuoGeek,

Just want to say that the plugin is great. Works perfectly for what I need. One nice future feature would be a checkbox for subscribers to opt in to a newsletter or mailing list.

    Hello murrayben

Are you using our mailchimp integration or mailpoet integration? If you don’t have any integration plugin, then there is no point to make a checkbox like that.

Please correct me if I am wrong or I am missing the point here. We are always keen to introduce new features.

I’m not using mailchimp. I’m using the Newsletter plugin and copying the emails from ETD and then importing them into Newsletter. I want to make sure my “downloaders” know that I’m going to subscribe them to my list.

Makes sense. We are developing an addon to add more custom field in that form, so you should be able to add more fields once that one is released ??

Also you should keep in mind that by posting you’re on WordPress 2.0.8 you’re letting the world of hackers know that your site is ripe for the taking, with tons of well documented security holes that have been since patched!

Be careful to not also let them know what site you’re referring to ??

Please update to 3.0.2, most of the issues should be fixed.

With 3.0.2. I am having trouble. when I download via the link, it downloads a file called “download” with no extension. Unusable.
