Last week i tried the update through my wordpress plugin page. The dialog stated that it updated ok and no error messages were received…however, my slider got stuck in cyberspace and was not on my page. Plus I could not view my plugins page or my updates page on wordpress. Several hours and a long tech conversation with my webhost and I finally have my website back. I am hesitant to update the slider again until i know what went wrong. Has anyone experienced these same problems?

  • Hi tdlibrary,

Did you update any other plugins or your theme at the same time? Nothing too serious code wise has been added to Meta Slider for quite some time.

    Tom.

No, that was the only update. I just went to my plugins page again and I see that i have both version of meta-slider installed: 2.7.2 and 2.7.2. The newest version has not been activated and the older version says in needs to be upgraded. What is the best way to proceed?

    Hi tdlibrary,

Just to be clear – there are 2 copies of the same plugin listed on your plugins page? I am not sure how that would have happened! It might explain why the update failed. (Did you rename the plugin folder manually?)

I’m not sure what the easiest way to fix that would be. I think you might need to log into your site using an FTP client and remove the duplicate plugin folder from inside wp-content/plugins. There should only be one called ‘ml-slider’.

Alternatively you could delete both plugins from the Plugins menu, then reinstall from scratch. You won’t lose your slides.

    Regards,
    Tom.

well, i thought the easiest was going to be uninstalling both.
1.) I deactivated the old version, then deleted.
2.)Activated the new version – will not show on the website.
3.)Deactivated and deleted the new version.
    4.)Reinstalled the new version.
I now have no slider and cannot get to my plugins page (shows blank) just like before.
Not very convenient timing since I am going on vacation for a few days. I will try to connect through the cpanel in my hosting site. Last time when this happened, I had to have them redo everything for me.
If you have another solution, please let me know.
    I really like this slider!

Just got back today and connected to my cpanel. Deleted the file folder that you said and I was able to connect on WordPress to my plugins page. I tried to install again two more times and had to each time manually delete this folder.
Before I gave up, I thought I would deactivate my calendar plugin to make sure that it was not conflicting with the slider. Bingo! now everything is up and running and I will remember this for future updates.
    Thanks for your help!

Hey, tdlibrary – would you mind sharing which calendar plugin is creating the conflict? This sounds pretty serious; it would be great to know about it in advance. Thanks!

The calendar plugin that I’m using is called Time-ly All-In-One Event calendar. We really like it, but recently it has been causing problems with updates to our Slider. I have another update to go through and am taking all kinds of precautions with both of them.
