Will you be updating this plugin to work with WP 5.X? It is a useful plugin but I won’t be able to use it much longer without an update.

    Thanks so much.

  • @markmacallister Could you give some examples of what won’t work in WP 5.x ?

    Hey JRF

Thanks for the quick response. With all respect, it’s not a function of any problems with the plugin working in WP 5.X. To the best of my knowledge, the plugin has not generated any errors on my site.

Rather, my concern is that my WordFence security setup tends to flag plugins that haven’t been updated or otherwise maintained over a certain period of time–WF considers them essentially abandoned, or at least incompatible, and recommends removal. Since the banner for your plugin on WordPress.com reads “This plugin hasn’t been tested with the latest 3 major releases of WordPress. It may no longer be maintained or supported and may have compatibility issues when used with more recent versions of WordPress,” it made me curious about the plugin’s status.

It may be that you can just touch the file as a gesture towards update and that will make everything happy. I wouldn’t ask you to do any significant work, but I did want to check to make sure that the plugin indeed has not been abandoned. Given the promptness of your response, it’s clear the plugin is not abandoned, but it would still be cool to know for sure that the plugin is current and for WordPress.com to reflect that status.

Thanks again for your quick response. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

    Best,

    Mark

Hi Mark, while I have done most maintenance over the past years, I don’t actually have access to the SVN repo for this plugin.

We should probably ask Toby to either do this or to at least touch the files. Would you mind opening an issue on GitHub about this ?

    Hey JRF

Sure, I will be happy to post this question/info to GitHub. Thanks for the info and please let me know if you have other questions or concerns.

    Best,

    Mark

Wow. I just found this thread. Glad your post, Mark and thanks for the quick response JRF. I had the same question, since it is a very useful plugin with nothing else out there.

Also very happy to see this thread as I have been getting an error on a site that has this plugin. The error (nonce failure) may or may not have it’s root here but I was also looking to remove the plugin if support had ended.

    Sorry – I’ve been a bit absent.

I just tried to update the SVN repo and it seems I don’t have access either.

Made the changes but I am locked out.

I’m going to have to chase WP on this.

    I assume it’s been deactivated.

I have asked for it to be reinstated.

    Hope to hear back soon

    Hey Eager Terrier

Just wanted to check-in and thank you for working on this. Hopefully the reinstatement request will be successful. It’s a nice little plugin that does exactly what it is supposed to, and therefore I appreciate it and your work on it very much!

    Mark

Just to add my thanks for looking into this – it’s a great plugin, and despite the Wordfence warnings it has always worked well.

Just wanted to say thanks for handling this so quickly. Updated a couple of websites today. Great to have it back!

Outstanding! Thanks JRF and EagerTerrier for the update. Very much appreciate your time on this update, knowing you have many other issues that demand your attention.

I too am looking forward to the update and appreciate the developers effort here.
