I fixed a few things on my template and want to update my listings, but afraid to do a bulk update because I don’t want the profile info to override some changes I just made on eBay itself.
What is the process to just update the template, if there is one.

    Thank you –

    Hi @kbc-unlimited

    You have 2 options here:

1.) You could lock all items that are assigned to that listing profile and only unlock 1 item, then update the listing template and revise that 1 “Changed” listing to eBay – https://docs.wplab.com/article/45-locked-vs-unlocked-listings

2.) You could create a “Test” listing profile, assign the test listing template in the “Template” section of the listing profile, then browse to the listings page of WP-Lister, select the listing, then use the “Change profile” bulk action option to select that test listing profile, and then revise the listing.

    Kind regards,
    John

Thank you for the quick reply – but those sound exactly opposite of what I want to do.
I want to update the template on all my listings (an image was changed), but nothing else in the listings.
I made some changes to several listings on eBay itself and don’t want them to be erased or overridden if I do a bulk update on wp-lister. It sounds like if I lock them all, the template will not be updated.

    Hi @kbc-unlimited

Sorry but eBay only offers 2 ways to update listings which translate to the “Locked” and “Unlocked” options in WP-Lister.

eBay allows us to update the price and/or stock, or all details in the listing. You cannot update just the image in the listing template and nothing else. Since updating the listing template is a product detail other than price or stock, you are required to unlock the listings in order to revise the image in the listing template.

This is why we state in our documentation here: https://docs.wplab.com/article/41-how-the-inventory-sync-works

Why WooCommerce becomes your central database

When using WP-Lister for eBay you should not be making manual changes on eBay anymore. Instead, your changes should be made directly in WooCommerce – and WP-Lister will take care of uploading your changes to eBay.

One of WP-Lister’s core features is submitting products and changes from WooCommerce to eBay. This is what WP-Lister does “out of the box” – and it’s not required to enable the inventory sync option to do so. When you update a product in WooCommerce, all the data that has already been sent to eBay will be submitted again with your update. That’s why when you use WP-Lister, WooCommerce will become your “central database”.

You should never make manual changes on eBay directly. Because in the future when you need to modify some details that require you to unlock the listings in WP-Lister, WP-Lister will update everything in the listing with what WP-Lister has in it’s system.

    Kind regards,
    John

Thank you – only changes I made on ebay where the recommended fixes to the listing.. like additional info and just didn’t want those all erased if possible. I’m assuming that if something is blank on the profile or template it will be erased if it’s on the listing already, that was my concern with doing bulk update for the template.

    Appreciate your help

    Hi @kbc-unlimited

    My pleasure!

Whether it is recommended fixes or not, product detail changes made directly on eBay will be lost when WP-Lister updates a listing.

That is correct about leaving fields blank in the profile or template.

    All the best!
    John
