Update PHP on AWS Lightsail

  • I’m getting a notice that I need to update my PHP. Being a complete neophyte I went searching for answers. Thus far I have run the “PHP Compatability Checker” and done a backup. It seems that I can’t find instructions for updating PHP on an AWS Lightsail hosted WordPress site. Can someone point me in the right direction?

    I strongly suggest to contact AWS tech support and ask them to update PHP for you. Changing versions might not be available to regular users.

    Also, did you do a database backup?

    I appreciate your response. Being on a limited budget I’m on the Amazon Basic support plan which means No Support! I did do a database backup.

    I’m disappointed that Amazon does not offer a reasonably easy way to update PHP. It seems to be working as is so I guess I’ll leave it alone.
