I am have been editing one of my customers old wordpress sites.

    Something strange happens.

When I am in the admin area editing pages in the wordpress editor quiet often after I click on the update button after the changes save and the page reloads and the Publish box is there on the right side of the screen but the contents are missing including the update button.

If I walk away and leave it for 10ish minutes and come back and refresh the page the Publish box works normal again and has the update button appear.

During this time I can refresh as many times as I want and it doesn’t come back.

I have also tried it in Edge instead of my current browser and it still doesn’t show. It is like it is happening on the server..yet the website loads so the server is still up.

Kinda feels like wordpress has detected it doesn’t have write access so it’s hidden update button. But then after a few minutes it appears.

Wordpress 5.8.6 – I don’t want to update to newer version because the site was built in 2014 and I can guarantee something will break.

I think I may have fixed it.

There was a warning on the dashboard when I first logged in saying the PHP version should be changed to 7.5. So I went into cPanel and changed the version the 7.5 from an older version a couple of days prior.

I just went and changed it to 7.4 and the problem hasn’t returned.
